Communities in Schools  -  In Schools to Help All Kids Succeed

Communities In Schools of Benton - Franklin works full-time inside schools to build relationships with students that unlock potential, break down barriers, and empower them to stay in school and achieve in life.

For too many youth, challenges outside the classroom—like hunger, housing insecurity, physical and mental health concerns, or trauma–can stand in the way of success inside the classroom. That’s why Site Coordinators work IN schools every day to ensure students have the tools necessary to write their own success story.

WHAT DOES COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS DO?

Whether it’s someone to talk to when things get tough, assistance with schoolwork, food or other essential items, we do whatever it takes to develop relationships and connect students to the resources they need to succeed.

HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT?

Unlike other programs that operate before or after school, our staff are IN schools during the school day. This allows us to partner with families and school staff to learn what’s impacting our students both in and outside the classroom. Once we wholistically understand the student’s circumstance, we coordinate with the community—businesses, health care providers, and other agencies—to bring outside resources inside schools and do whatever it takes to empower students to succeed.

WHAT ARE THE RESULTS?

Among the students who receive our most intensive supports:
82 percent improved their attendance,
97 percent stayed in school, and
86 percent demonstrated academic gains.
