Learning Assistance Program (LAP)
The Learning Assistance Program (LAP) is designed to provide additional support to help students meet grade-level standards in key areas such as reading and math. LAP offers both academic and non-academic assistance to ensure students have the skills and support they need to succeed.
How LAP Works
LAP services are available to students who need extra help to meet academic standards. Using a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), the program offers:
-
Targeted Support (Tier 2): Small group instruction and additional help in specific areas where students are struggling, such as reading and math.
-
Intensive Support (Tier 3): More personalized and intensive intervention for students who need greater assistance to achieve grade-level proficiency.
-
Academic and Non-Academic Support: In addition to focusing on academic skills, LAP also offers behavioral guidance and skill development to support students in becoming well-rounded learners.
LAP in the Finley School District
In the 2024-25 school year, the Finley School District is focusing LAP efforts on areas where students need the most support:
-
Finley Elementary and Middle Schools: LAP will focus on enhancing literacy and math skills to ensure all students can meet or exceed grade-level standards.
-
Finley Middle School and River View High School: LAP funding will also be used to provide graduation assistance, helping students who are at risk of not graduating by offering targeted interventions and support.
The Learning Assistance Program plays a crucial role in ensuring that every student in the Finley School District has the resources and support they need to succeed academically.
