State and Local Assessment
Washington students are tested regularly by the state to assess their progress as they move through school. During the 2017-2018 school year, state tests include:
- Smarter Balanced: English language arts (ELA) and math tests
- Measurements of Student Progress (MSP): Science test for grades 5 and 8
- High School Proficiency Exams (HSPE): Reading and writing tests
End-of-Course (EOC): Math and biology tests taken as students finish algebra 1/integrated math 1, geometry/integrated math 2, and biology
For more information regarding State Testing please visit the OSPI website at http://www.k12.wa.us/assessment/StateTesting/default.aspx
In addition our school district administers the Measurement of Academic Progress (MAP) which allows us to see progress and improvement through the academic year. This assessment shows a comparison to students throughout the United States in Reading, Language, and Math.
